Happy National Teacher’s Day to all those who devote their lives to their profession, often receiving little in return.
Too often we forget the work these men and women do goes beyond the hours they spend in a classroom. The “job” is far from over when the bell rings and begins long before students enter the room.
Pay is minimal, external rewards are few. Yet in spite of budget cuts, and parent’s finding blame instead of value, they struggle everyday to make the world a better place for our youth (and adults, returning to school).
I know several teachers personally, and I know for fact they spend evenings, weekends, and vacations, preparing lesson plans, adjusting and enhancing the basics of what’s required to bring the studies to life in a way that will engage the students and encourage them to expand their minds to all that’s available to them.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to teachers everywhere for your loyal and tireless dedication. Yours truly is one of the most important professions on earth and I applaud each and every one of you.
