There’s lots of opportunities to have fun in Palm Springs while supporting the tremendous work of Desert AIDS Project.
“Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards Gala”
Now in it’s seventeenth year, the Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards, has become one of the most highly anticipated black tie events in the desert, having “raised millions of dollars for direct client services at Desert AIDS Project.”
On Saturday February 11th, join host Joan Rivers at the beautiful Palm Springs Convention Center to enjoy an evening of entertainment by Queen Latifah, Wyonna Judd, Megan Mullaly and David Burnham as you participate in honoring the humanitarian efforts of Peter Gallagher, Matt Bomer, Hydeia Broadbent, Karolee Sowle and Father Andrew Green.
‘First organized by and named for famed interior designer Steve Chase, these galas are a prime highlight of the desert community’s social season! Honorees, award presenters, and entertainers in the past years have included: Carol Channing, Ann Margret, Tom Hanks, Betty Ford, Diahann Carrol, Sen. Ted Kennedy, Patti LaBelle, Betty White, Shirley MacLaine, Barry Manilow, Liza Minnelli, Debbie Reynolds and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.”
Also on February 11th, before heading to the gala, jump on your bike, get some exercise and enjoy the magnificent Palm Springs weather, by joining Team Desert AIDS at the Spa Casino for this year’s Tour de Palm Springs from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon. Even if you don’t ride, participate in the events that will be going on throughout the day as you cheer for the riders upon their return.
From March 12th to the 15th, you’re invited to “Dinner at My Place”; where participants enjoy an “individual and smartly planned”, “array of privately hosted parties” offering “scrumptious food, drink, and fun conversation, in addition to appealing themes and sometimes even celebrities and entertainers greeting each guest”. Hurry if you’re planning to attend, requests must be in by February 6th.
You don’t want to miss “Celebrity Doodles: a celebrity art, doodle and memorabilia event” on March 31st. Hosted by incomparably talented, comedian and award winning TV/Radio personality Scott Nevins, you’ll be treated to a performance by Bobbi Eakes, special appearances by Estelle Harris and Walt Wiley and no doubt other surprises yet to be announced, as the video states this event is without a doubt “Palm Springs Most Entertaining Live Auction!”
