Visiting the Gallegos family

On Thursday evening I had the honor of visiting Paul Gallegos and his wonderful family at Desert Regional Hospital to meet their new son.

I call it an honor because meeting them, hearing more of their story—a love story like ones we dream of—made me certain there is a God, because only He could place people like this on earth and help me to meet them.

If you live in Palm Springs, you might see Paul promoting HIV/AIDS awareness, holding a sign at various intersections. Upon first meeting him, you know you’ve made a friend for life; wonderful man, loving husband, devoted father. He’s paying it forward to save others from going where he’s been while also promoting the Desert AIDS Project without whom he might not be here.

There is nothing in this world like holding a newborn. It was a joy I’ve not experienced in nearly 14 years, since my youngest was born. As Kelley said, this baby was meant to be here; God has big plans for him.

Upon leaving the family, I noticed a connection between this beautiful event and one of Barry Manilow’s latest songs. Read the rest of this story at It Could Be Magic!
